Coffee is a drink enjoyed by many people. Some people start their day off with a cup of coffee. Others have a coffee drink to sit back and relax. There are many different types of coffee drinks.
There is the traditional cup of coffee. There are also fancier drinks such as espresso, cappuccino, and many others. These following recipes can help a person make some tasty coffee drinks with a small coffee maker at home.
Coconut Oil Coffee
This coffee has a healthy touch of coconut oil in it. Many people do not think that coconut and coffee will go together. But once you mix them, folks are often surprised at how tasty this combination is.
Ingredients (serves 2):
2 cups of freshly brewed hot coffee
2 Tbsp coconut oil
2 Tbsp all natural, grass-fed, 100% butter
Put all of these ingredients in a blender and blend until the butter is melted into the coffee. When you pour the beverage into a cup, the coffee will be frothy on top. You can also freeze this mixture to have a tasty iced drink.
Pumpkin Spice Latte
When a person thinks of the fall season, they may think of everything with the flavor of pumpkin spice. Coffee is no exception. Now a person can make this drink in their own home.
Ingredients (serves 3):
3 cups of hot milk
4 tsp sugar
½ tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp pumpkin pie spice
18 ounces of (strong) hot freshly brewed coffee
3 Tbsp whipped cream (optional)
Pinch of pumpkin pie spice
In a blender or shaker mix the milk, sugar, vanilla, and pumpkin pie spice. Blend or shake until the mixture becomes frothy. Divide the hot milk mixture between three different coffee cups. Add 6 ounces of hot coffee to each cup. Top each with a tablespoon of whipped cream. Dust the top of each with a pinch of pumpkin pie spice.
Caramel Iced Coffee
Ingredients:
3 cups of ice cubes
1 ½ cup of strong cold coffee
½ cup milk
½ cup sugar
2 Tbsp caramel syrup
1 tsp chocolate syrup
¼ tsp salt
In a blender mix the coffee, milk, sugar, caramel, chocolate syrup and the salt. Blend at a medium speed until well mixed. Serve over ice. (Optional: for a frappuccinos-style frozen treat, add the ice into the blender with the coffee mixture and blend until creamy and smooth.)
Mocha Flavored Coffee
This recipe is great for chocolate lovers. It has a strong chocolate taste, but the flavor of the coffee is not lost.
Ingredients:
1 can evaporated milk
2 cups strong brewed coffee
1 cup hot water
½ cup cocoa powder
½ cup sugar
In a saucepan mix the cocoa powder and the sugar. Add the hot water. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and the cocoa is fully incorporated. Heat the mixture over low heat for 2 minutes until the mixture becomes thick. Add the milk and the coffee. Heat until the mixture comes just to a boil, but keep an eye on it and remove it from heat so the milk is not scorched or doesn’t boil over. This coffee can be served hot (immediately), or pour it into a pitcher and refrigerate to serve cold.
Cappuccino Sundaes
This coffee treat is great for a hot day. The taste of the coffee will come through nicely in the sauce, and is a delicious hot-weather treat for the whole family.
Ingredients:
½ cup strong brewed coffee
½ cup heavy whipping cream
¼ cup packed brown sugar
¼ tsp cinnamon
8 ½ oz chopped semisweet chocolate
3 pints coffee flavored ice cream
¾ cup chopped almonds
In a saucepan warm the coffee, whipping cream, sugar, and the cinnamon. Simmer until the sugar has dissolved. Remove the mixture from the heat. Add the chocolate. Stir until the chocolate is melted. Cover and put the mixture into the refrigerator until it is very cool (3-4 hours or overnight.)
To serve, put a scoop of the coffee ice cream into a bowl. Top with desired amount of the coffee-chocolate mixture. (Optional: prior to serving, warm the sauce over low heat.) Top with the almonds and enjoy.
Adult Cappuccino
This coffee drink is designed with adults that want a little kick in their coffee. While it does have a pleasant coffee taste, some may feel that it is a little strong.
Ingredients (serves 3):
3 cups hot freshly brewed coffee
1½ cups half and half
4 oz crème de cacao
2 oz rum
2 oz brandy
Put all of these ingredients in a saucepan. Heat on low; stir gently until warmed through. Serve immediately.
Espresso Biscotti
This dessert has the great taste of coffee baked in. While it may not be a drink, it is still tasty.
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 Tbsp espresso powder
½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
1 cup sugar
½ tsp salt
2 Tbsp grated orange zest
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
¾ cup chopped almonds
In a bowl mix the flour, espresso, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, and orange zest. In another bowl mix the eggs and vanilla. Add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture. Add the almonds. Knead the dough and shape into a long log. Bake the log at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Allow it to cool and then slice. This is great dunked in a warm cup of coffee.
These are some of the great drinks and treats that a person can make with coffee. Coffee is a diverse drink and can be used in a number of different recipes and applications. Coffee is great for waking up in the morning as well as enjoying a special treat.
